Is Sheridan getting better or worse?

Longtime lurker here, I'm a remote worker and Household incomes average around $58,571 in Sheridan. With a population of 6,031, Sheridan is a small town. The unemployment rate is 8.9%, which is concerning. You can expect to pay around $1,595 for rent here. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly.

Pros:
- Growing food scene
- Good schools
- Good healthcare facilities
- Strong sense of community

Cons:
- Lack of diversity
- Few job opportunities in some fields
- Poor road conditions
Has anyone dealt with this? Night life is decent if you know the right spots. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The suburbs are where most families end up. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The weather takes some getting used to. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value healthcare, you'll love it. The public transit is genuinely hit or miss and I've found the quality of life is solid. My neighborhood (The Heights) is pricey and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Atlanta, be prepared for the culture shock. weather is completely different here. And Road conditions need improvement.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Public transit is underrated here. You'll probably need a car for most things. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad.
