Moving to Sherwood for work -advice?
I grew up here but left for a while. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Worth the trade-offs?

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value cost of living, you'll love it. The public transit is genuinely challenging and I've found it's not perfect but it works for me. My neighborhood (East) is competitive and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Pittsburgh, be prepared for the culture shock. school system is completely different here. And Summers can be brutally hot.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

I've lived in Lakewood for about 9 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I genuinely enjoy living here. When I first moved here from Nashville, I was surprised by job market. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Lots of new development happening
- The traffic scene is pretty good
The downsides:
- Can feel isolated
- Dating scene is rough

Came here for a job opportunity and stayed because I love the pace of life here. The traffic is honestly hit or miss and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 14 years ago from Dallas and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Uptown. It's better than expected for what you get.
Jobs: The market is affordable right now, especially in marketing. If you're in marketing you might struggle.
People: Generally decent. It took about 18 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: underrated. Tons of options if you like Southern.
Happy to answer more specific questions..

I'm a real estate agent who relocated here from Nashville about 15 years ago. The main reasons were cost of living and a fresh start.
Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Good internet infrastructure
- Lots of family-friendly activities
Cons that are real:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
Financially, we've found it excellent compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are affordable, gas is challenging.
Socially, I'm still on the fence after all this time. Definitely worth checking out..

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are decent, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

That said, the cost of living is legit. And if you're into fishing, this place is underrated.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The East side vs the Greenfield side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
