Worst things about Sherwood nobody talks about

Longtime lurker here, I'm a college student here and The unemployment rate is 1.8%, which is pretty low. Crime rate is something to consider -Sherwood sits at 620.3 per 100K. Median household income is $79,157, which feels about average for the area. Average temperature is around 62--F, so the weather is moderate. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The weather takes some getting used to. What would you do? It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The weather takes some getting used to. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The weather takes some getting used to. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value safety, you'll love it. The walkability is genuinely average and I've found it's been a really good experience overall. My neighborhood (Midtown) is wild and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Denver, be prepared for the culture shock. weather is completely different here. And Not very walkable outside downtown.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Moved here from Tampa about 14 years ago. I'm still on the fence after all this time. Still getting used to food scene but It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Happy to answer more specific questions..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a contractor who relocated here from Salt Lake City about 9 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and my partner's job.

Pros I've experienced:
- Good internet infrastructure
- Good airport with direct flights
- Diverse dining options

Cons that are real:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Far from beaches/mountains

Financially, we've found it pretty good compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are growing, gas is excellent.

Socially, it's not perfect but it works for me. Definitely worth checking out..
