Considering Sherwood vs Kansas City -help me decide

So, Been living here since 2017. Homes are going for about $564,200 on average. Average temperature is around 53--F, so expect cold winters. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Property taxes are high but you get good services. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The weather takes some getting used to. The suburbs are where most families end up.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a writer who relocated here from Pittsburgh about 2 years ago. The main reasons were work and a job opportunity.

Pros I've experienced:
- Active local events and festivals
- Affordable housing options
- Diverse dining options

Cons that are real:
- Dating scene is rough
- Homeless population growing downtown

Financially, we've found it excellent compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are stable, gas is excellent.

Socially, I genuinely enjoy living here. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it's been a really good experience overall. Internet is improving in most areas.

Came here for cost of living and stayed because I'm still on the fence after all this time. The community vibe is honestly hit or miss and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value cultural scene, you'll love it. The housing market is genuinely better than expected and I've found it exceeded my expectations. My neighborhood (Uptown) is reasonable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Salt Lake City, be prepared for the culture shock. walkability is completely different here. And Nightlife is limited.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

I work in retail here and I have mixed feelings honestly. The job market for my field is surprisingly good. No regrets on my end..

I've been living here for 4 years and I'd say I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The outdoor recreation is surprisingly good compared to other places I've lived. Overall It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Hot take but I have mixed feelings honestly. I know a lot of people disagree but after 12 years here, that's my honest assessment.
