Alright, I'm a remote worker and With a population of 11,022, Shiloh is a small town. The city has invested a lot in new development. Am I wrong here? People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The suburbs are where most families end up. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Night life is decent if you know the right spots.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 1 years ago from Dallas and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in East. It's solid for what you get.
Jobs: The market is competitive right now, especially in real estate. If you're in government you might struggle.
People: Generally surprisingly good. It took about 15 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: challenging. Tons of options if you like seafood.
Definitely worth checking out..

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 1-bedroom. I genuinely enjoy living here. Compared to Denver it's pretty good.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a marketing manager, 35, moved here 6 years ago from New York. I've lived in Pine Hills and Springfield, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Cost of living is very reasonable
2. Lots of new development happening
3. Strong sense of community
4. The people are generally hit or miss - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Chain restaurants dominate
2. Homeless population growing downtown
3. The community vibe situation is manageable and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Pine Hills: Great for retirees. improving vibes, walkable.
- Springfield: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from New York, everything felt tough. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are manageable. Gas is stable. You can live comfortably on $90K-$140K here.
**Final verdict:**
Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem solid.
I've been here 6 years and I'm still on the fence after all this time. The thing nobody mentions is walkability. It's developing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the traffic is legit. And if you're into biking, this place is improving.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The West side vs the Maple Ridge side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
