Relocating to Shirley, NY -pros and cons?

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a lawyer who relocated here from Miami about 13 years ago. The main reasons were school and a job opportunity.

Pros I've experienced:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Decent public transit for the size
- Good airport with direct flights

Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Not a lot of cultural diversity

Financially, we've found it improving compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are wild, gas is tough.

Socially, it's improved dramatically in recent years. No regrets on my end..

Came here for retirement and stayed because it's exactly what I was looking for. The public transit is honestly surprisingly good and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Used to live on the Meadowbrook side, now on the Sunset side. Completely different vibe. it's not perfect but it works for me.

We moved here with our family and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Schools in South area are solid. Kids love it here.

I'm a electrician and I've found it's not perfect but it works for me. The community is surprisingly good and there's always something going on.
