Is Shoreline still affordable?

Hey folks, Been living here since 2007. The median home value here is around $759,400, which is pretty steep. Poverty rate is 5.7%, which is pretty low. The unemployment rate is 2.9%, which is pretty low. Homes are going for about $759,400 on average. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. What neighborhoods would you suggest? I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem average.

I've been here 5 years and it was the best decision I ever made. The thing nobody mentions is outdoor recreation. It's affordable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the pet-friendliness is legit. And if you're into running, this place is excellent.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The The Heights side vs the West side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

We moved here with our family and I'm still on the fence after all this time. Schools in Lakewood area are hit or miss. Kids love it here.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 6 years ago from Raleigh and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Midtown. It's hit or miss for what you get.

Jobs: The market is stable right now, especially in finance. If you're in finance you might struggle.

People: Generally tough. It took about 13 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: underrated. Tons of options if you like Asian.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is job market. it's been a really good experience overall. Worth doing your research before committing.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it's exactly what I was looking for. Happy to answer more specific questions..

I've lived in Springfield for about 13 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I genuinely enjoy living here. When I first moved here from Minneapolis, I was surprised by cost of living. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Strong job market in several industries
- The public transit scene is pretty good

The downsides:
- Property taxes are high
- Limited entertainment options

Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for singles. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem challenging.

I've been here 15 years and it's not perfect but it works for me. The thing nobody mentions is safety. It's stable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the cost of living is legit. And if you're into mountain biking, this place is hit or miss.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Lakewood side vs the Riverside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Give it a chance - it might surprise you..
