Biggest downsides of living in Shorewood?

So, Rent is about $2,087/month for a decent place. Average temperature is around 50--F, so expect cold winters. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The weather takes some getting used to. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The weather takes some getting used to. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.

I work in legal here and it's improved dramatically in recent years. The job market for my field is improving. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Moved here from Houston about 3 years ago. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Still getting used to nightlife but It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 4-bedroom. I love the pace of life here. Compared to San Diego it's better than expected.

Came here for retirement and stayed because it's not perfect but it works for me. The nightlife is honestly tough and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

My experience has been mostly positive. I love the pace of life here. The only thing I'd watch out for is food scene. Other than that, No regrets on my end..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem pretty good.

I've been here 10 years and it exceeded my expectations. The thing nobody mentions is community vibe. It's competitive and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the school system is legit. And if you're into surfing, this place is decent.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Riverside side vs the Maple Ridge side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Feel free to reach out with questions..

I've lived in Lakewood for about 6 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I'm still on the fence after all this time. When I first moved here from Miami, I was surprised by safety. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- The school system scene is improving

The downsides:
- Limited public transit options
- Summers can be brutally hot

Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for singles. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

The food scene here is average. Tons of great Indian places. it was the best decision I ever made.
