Hey everyone, It's a a small town city with about 14,398 people. Homes are going for about $1,621,200 on average. Crime rate is something to consider -Short Hills sits at 11.7 per 100K. The median home value here is around $1,621,200, which is pretty steep. The city has invested a lot in new development. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much.

Pros:
- Affordable cost of living
- Nice parks and trails
- Low crime in most areas
- Active local events

Cons:
- Few job opportunities in some fields
- Mosquitoes and humidity
- Limited cultural events
Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The suburbs are where most families end up. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem average.

I've been here 7 years and it's not perfect but it works for me. The thing nobody mentions is cost of living. It's pricey and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the traffic is legit. And if you're into camping, this place is pretty good.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Eastside side vs the Oak Park side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it's exactly what I was looking for. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

As someone who grew up here, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. A lot has changed in the past few years though. nightlife used to be much stable but now it's solid.
