Anyone work in healthcare in Short Pump?

Longtime lurker here, I'm a nurse at the local hospital and With a population of 28,177, Short Pump is a smaller city. Poverty rate is 3.6%, which is pretty low. Homes are going for about $543,000 on average. Rent is about $1,804/month for a decent place. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Anyone in a similar situation? The food scene here is surprisingly good. The city has invested a lot in new development. The city has invested a lot in new development. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value housing market, you'll love it. The outdoor recreation is genuinely hit or miss and I've found it exceeded my expectations. My neighborhood (Cedar Grove) is affordable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Charlotte, be prepared for the culture shock. public transit is completely different here. And Summers can be brutally hot.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Bought a house here in 2022 and I love the pace of life here. Property values have gone about the same since then.

As someone who grew up here, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. A lot has changed in the past few years though. pet-friendliness used to be much competitive but now it's excellent.
