Longtime lurker here, I'm a nurse at the local hospital and Median household income is $132,194, which feels pretty solid for the area. Homes are going for about $543,000 on average. The city has invested a lot in new development. The weather takes some getting used to. Is this normal for Short Pump? Looking forward to hearing from you all. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable.

Background: I'm a marketing manager, 58, moved here 2 years ago from Miami. I've lived in Lakewood and Downtown, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Low crime in most neighborhoods
2. Diverse dining options
3. Lots of family-friendly activities
4. The people are generally hit or miss - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Limited public transit options
2. Homeless population growing downtown
3. The pet-friendliness situation is pricey and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
