So, Born and raised here. The unemployment rate is 2.9%, which is pretty low. The median home value here is around $275,000, which seems about average. With a population of 11,913, Show Low is a small town. It's a a small town city with about 11,913 people. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. What would you do? The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. We moved here with our family and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Schools in Fairview area are excellent. Kids love it here.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 4 years ago from San Francisco and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Lakewood. It's pretty good for what you get.
Jobs: The market is wild right now, especially in real estate. If you're in tech you might struggle.
People: Generally pretty good. It took about 7 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: pretty good. Tons of options if you like Southern.
Hope this helps!.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Hope this helps!.

My experience has been mostly positive. I have mixed feelings honestly. The only thing I'd watch out for is outdoor recreation. Other than that, No regrets on my end..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value healthcare, you'll love it. The community vibe is genuinely decent and I've found it's improved dramatically in recent years. My neighborhood (Springfield) is growing and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Baltimore, be prepared for the culture shock. pet-friendliness is completely different here. And Dating scene is rough.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
