Anyone else feel this way? You can expect to pay around $980 for rent here. Poverty rate is 18.4%, which is higher than I expected. The weather takes some getting used to. Am I wrong here? TIA! The food scene here is surprisingly good. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The suburbs are where most families end up.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 13 years ago from Salt Lake City and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Springfield. It's hit or miss for what you get.
Jobs: The market is wild right now, especially in engineering. If you're in construction you might struggle.
People: Generally tough. It took about 8 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: tough. Tons of options if you like BBQ.
Definitely worth checking out..

I've been living here for 4 years and I'd say it's been a really good experience overall. The cultural scene is excellent compared to other places I've lived. Overall Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
