Pros and cons of Shreveport after 3 years

Hi all, Average temperature is around 68°F, so the weather is moderate. Rent is about $980/month for a decent place. You can expect to pay around $980 for rent here. Crime rate is something to consider — Shreveport sits at 779.5 per 100K. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Let me know your thoughts. The weather takes some getting used to. The suburbs are where most families end up. The city has invested a lot in new development. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. It's changing fast — some good, some not so much. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The weather takes some getting used to. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Property taxes are high but you get good services.

Weather-wise, the summers are improving and winters are pricey. You get used to it after the first year.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 11 years ago from Houston and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Uptown. It's tough for what you get.

Jobs: The market is reasonable right now, especially in manufacturing. If you're in government you might struggle.

People: Generally better than expected. It took about 4 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: hit or miss. Tons of options if you like Korean.

Give it a chance - it might surprise you..
