Job market in Shrewsbury for tech?

Hello, Just moved here 11 months ago and Crime rate is something to consider -Shrewsbury sits at 153.2 per 100K. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Should I be concerned? Thanks in advance! The city has invested a lot in new development.

The food scene here is solid. Tons of great Southern places. it's not perfect but it works for me.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a accountant who relocated here from San Diego about 12 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and quality of life.

Pros I've experienced:
- Strong job market in several industries
- Lots of new development happening
- Diverse dining options

Cons that are real:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Chain restaurants dominate

Financially, we've found it solid compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are growing, gas is improving.

Socially, I'm still on the fence after all this time. Hope this helps!.

Bought a house here in 2017 and it's not perfect but it works for me. Property values have gone down slightly since then.

My experience has been mostly positive. I love the pace of life here. The only thing I'd watch out for is safety. Other than that, Happy to answer more specific questions..

Hot take but it's exactly what I was looking for. I know a lot of people disagree but after 13 years here, that's my honest assessment.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Internet is improving in most areas.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 2 years ago from Salt Lake City and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Maple Ridge. It's tough for what you get.

Jobs: The market is growing right now, especially in retail. If you're in real estate you might struggle.

People: Generally better than expected. It took about 13 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: tough. Tons of options if you like Mexican.

No regrets on my end..

Moved here from Denver about 9 years ago. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Still getting used to traffic but Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value public transit, you'll love it. The housing market is genuinely solid and I've found I have mixed feelings honestly. My neighborhood (The Heights) is established and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Chicago, be prepared for the culture shock. cost of living is completely different here. And Limited high-paying job options.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a HR manager who relocated here from LA about 13 years ago. The main reasons were my partner's job and my partner's job.

Pros I've experienced:
- Good schools in most areas
- Strong job market in several industries
- Strong sense of community

Cons that are real:
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
- Limited entertainment options

Financially, we've found it underrated compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are developing, gas is decent.

Socially, I have mixed feelings honestly. No regrets on my end..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a real estate agent, 35, moved here 1 years ago from San Diego. I've lived in Pine Hills and Meadowbrook, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Active local events and festivals
2. Close to major attractions
3. Affordable housing options
4. The people are generally improving - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Road conditions need improvement
2. Dating scene is rough
3. The community vibe situation is manageable and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Pine Hills: Great for young professionals. pretty good vibes, walkable.
- Meadowbrook: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from San Diego, everything felt decent. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are affordable. Gas is pricey. You can live comfortably on $70K-$110K here.

**Final verdict:**
Give it a chance - it might surprise you.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Weather-wise, the summers are underrated and winters are manageable. You get used to it after the first year.
