Starting a business in Sierra Vista?

Anyone else feel this way? You can expect to pay around $1,110 for rent here. Average temperature is around 62--F, so the weather is moderate. The unemployment rate is 2.7%, which is pretty low. The median home value here is around $239,000, which is actually reasonable. Crime rate is something to consider -Sierra Vista sits at 261.8 per 100K. The city has invested a lot in new development. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. What would you do? The city has invested a lot in new development. Bought a house here in 2023 and it was the best decision I ever made. Property values have gone about the same since then.

We moved here with our family and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Schools in South area are better than expected. Kids love it here.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Westside for 9 years. Moved from Salt Lake City for family. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is better than expected. We bought in 2024 at k and it's now worth up a bit than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 1-bed in a safe area. Older homes are where the value is.

**Employment:**
finance is strong here. consulting is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are reasonable for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The outdoor scene is average - we have biking trails within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Westside schools are excellent. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Nightlife is limited. Road conditions need improvement. And school system can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For retirees, I'd say this is a 8/10. Would recommend to anyone considering it.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 13 years ago from Austin and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Eastside. It's challenging for what you get.

Jobs: The market is pricey right now, especially in manufacturing. If you're in real estate you might struggle.

People: Generally decent. It took about 4 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: hit or miss. Tons of options if you like Asian.

Definitely worth checking out..

Public transit is tough here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it's not perfect but it works for me.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem surprisingly good.

I've been here 8 years and I love the pace of life here. The thing nobody mentions is safety. It's growing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the job market is legit. And if you're into fishing, this place is underrated.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Eastside side vs the Sunset side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Would recommend to anyone considering it..

As someone who grew up here, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. A lot has changed in the past few years though. school system used to be much manageable but now it's average.
