Random thought, You can expect to pay around $941 for rent here. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The suburbs are where most families end up. The weather takes some getting used to. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem solid.
I've been here 9 years and I love the pace of life here. The thing nobody mentions is housing market. It's affordable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the job market is legit. And if you're into surfing, this place is tough.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Midtown side vs the Uptown side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Hope this helps!.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it was the best decision I ever made. Internet is tough in most areas.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value school system, you'll love it. The cultural scene is genuinely tough and I've found I love the pace of life here. My neighborhood (Lakewood) is developing and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Pittsburgh, be prepared for the culture shock. outdoor recreation is completely different here. And Not very walkable outside downtown.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

I've been here 10 years and it's been a really good experience overall. The thing nobody mentions is housing market. It's wild and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the safety is legit. And if you're into skiing, this place is tough.

Used to live on the Highland side, now on the Greenfield side. Completely different vibe. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 2 years ago from New York and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Riverside. It's hit or miss for what you get.
Jobs: The market is competitive right now, especially in real estate. If you're in tech you might struggle.
People: Generally surprisingly good. It took about 12 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: solid. Tons of options if you like BBQ.
Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Hot take but it's been a really good experience overall. I know a lot of people disagree but after 1 years here, that's my honest assessment.
