First post here. I'm a remote worker and Rent is about $941/month for a decent place. The median home value here is around $205,000, which is actually reasonable. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The suburbs are where most families end up. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The city has invested a lot in new development. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 4-bedroom. I have mixed feelings honestly. Compared to Portland it's surprisingly good.

I've lived in East for about 14 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I genuinely enjoy living here. When I first moved here from Dallas, I was surprised by cost of living. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Affordable housing options
- The healthcare scene is better than expected
The downsides:
- Limited public transit options
- Road conditions need improvement
Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for retirees. Hope this helps!.

I'm a HR manager and I've found there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The community is excellent and there's always something going on.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 13 years ago from Dallas and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Downtown. It's pretty good for what you get.
Jobs: The market is developing right now, especially in finance. If you're in manufacturing you might struggle.
People: Generally better than expected. It took about 11 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: challenging. Tons of options if you like Mexican.
Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

The food scene here is pretty good. Tons of great Mexican places. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now.

Bought a house here in 2021 and I love the pace of life here. Property values have gone down slightly since then.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I genuinely enjoy living here. Internet is hit or miss in most areas.
