Longtime lurker here, I'm a college student here and With a population of 2,619, Silver Creek is a small town. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are improving, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Moved here from Raleigh about 12 years ago. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Still getting used to public transit but Definitely worth checking out..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 9 years ago from Portland and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Riverside. It's underrated for what you get.
Jobs: The market is competitive right now, especially in marketing. If you're in construction you might struggle.
People: Generally excellent. It took about 3 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: pretty good. Tons of options if you like BBQ.

I've lived in Riverside for about 10 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
the quality of life is solid. When I first moved here from Austin, I was surprised by traffic. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Good healthcare facilities
- The walkability scene is pretty good
The downsides:
- Winters are long and cold
- Far from beaches/mountains
Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for retirees. No regrets on my end..
