Is Silver Lake walkable?

Hey folks, Been living here since 2015. Crime rate is something to consider -Silver Lake sits at 675.4 per 100K. With a population of 6,242, Silver Lake is a small town. The median home value here is around $287,500, which seems about average. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Any advice would be great. Property taxes are high but you get good services. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse.

My experience has been mostly positive. it's improved dramatically in recent years. The only thing I'd watch out for is traffic. Other than that, No regrets on my end..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value outdoor recreation, you'll love it. The dating scene is genuinely solid and I've found I genuinely enjoy living here. My neighborhood (Greenfield) is competitive and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Tampa, be prepared for the culture shock. safety is completely different here. And Not a lot of cultural diversity.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
