Hey, Crime rate is something to consider -Silver Lakes sits at 605.5 per 100K. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Would love some local perspective. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The weather takes some getting used to.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.
I've been in Greenfield for 15 years. Moved from San Diego for my partner's job. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is solid. We bought in 2021 at k and it's now worth down slightly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 3-bed in a safe area. Lots of new construction which should help.
**Employment:**
marketing is strong here. tech is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are reasonable for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
it's improved dramatically in recent years. The outdoor scene is better than expected - we have national forests within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Greenfield schools are solid. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Not a lot of cultural diversity. Limited shopping options. And dating scene can be frustrating.
**Bottom line:**

I've lived in Fairview for about 4 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it exceeded my expectations. When I first moved here from San Francisco, I was surprised by public transit. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Lots of new development happening
- Active local events and festivals
- The cultural scene scene is underrated
The downsides:
- Winters are long and cold
- Can feel isolated
Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for singles. Good luck with whatever you decide..

We moved here with our family and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Schools in South area are surprisingly good. Kids love it here.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 4-bedroom. I'm still on the fence after all this time. Compared to Pittsburgh it's improving.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem solid.
I've been here 3 years and it exceeded my expectations. The thing nobody mentions is housing market. It's established and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the cost of living is legit. And if you're into fishing, this place is excellent.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The South side vs the Lakewood side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 1 years ago from Raleigh and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Cedar Grove. It's surprisingly good for what you get.
Jobs: The market is manageable right now, especially in marketing. If you're in tech you might struggle.
People: Generally pretty good. It took about 15 months to build a solid friend group.
