The truth about Silver Spring — honest review
Been a Silver Spring resident for 4 years. Here's my honest take:
Pros:
- Friendly community
- Low crime in most areas
- Reasonable housing
Cons:
- Summer heat is intense
- Winters are harsh
Overall I'd rate it 8/10. It's not perfect but I really enjoy living here.

If you can afford it, Southside is the best place to live. Period.

Traffic is the worst part honestly. But if you live near work it's fine.

For families, I'd recommend looking at Riverside. Schools are rated well and it's quiet.

As someone who moved here from Chicago, I can confirm most of this. The weather surprised me the most.
