Moving to Silver Springs Shores with kids -good idea?

We're a young couple and The median home value here is around $181,800, which is actually reasonable. Median household income is $60,543, which feels about average for the area. Poverty rate is 10.7%, which is around average. Average temperature is around 71--F, so it's warm year-round. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Property taxes are high but you get good services. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 4-bedroom. it was the best decision I ever made. Compared to San Francisco it's solid.

I've been living here for 3 years and I'd say it exceeded my expectations. The job market is tough compared to other places I've lived. Overall Happy to answer more specific questions..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value food scene, you'll love it. The job market is genuinely surprisingly good and I've found it's improved dramatically in recent years. My neighborhood (South) is manageable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Atlanta, be prepared for the culture shock. nightlife is completely different here. And Rising rent and home prices.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a accountant who relocated here from Pittsburgh about 14 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and a job opportunity.

Pros I've experienced:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Decent public transit for the size
- Affordable housing options

Cons that are real:
- Nightlife is limited
- Urban sprawl is real

Financially, we've found it underrated compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are stable, gas is average.

Socially, the quality of life is solid. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are challenging, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.
