Been meaning to ask this. I'm a college student here and Median household income is $74,286, which feels about average for the area. Homes are going for about $461,800 on average. Average temperature is around 53--F, so expect cold winters. The city has invested a lot in new development. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Should I be concerned? The food scene here is surprisingly good. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The city has invested a lot in new development. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.

I've lived in Downtown for about 6 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I'm still on the fence after all this time. When I first moved here from Baltimore, I was surprised by outdoor recreation. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Good healthcare facilities
- The safety scene is solid
The downsides:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Far from beaches/mountains
Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for remote workers. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
