Random thought, I work in education and The median home value here is around $161,300, which is actually reasonable. Rent is about $975/month for a decent place. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Would love some local perspective.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a data analyst who relocated here from Minneapolis about 7 years ago. The main reasons were weather and my partner's job.
Pros I've experienced:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Good healthcare facilities
- Lots of family-friendly activities
Cons that are real:
- Limited public transit options
- Not very walkable outside downtown
Financially, we've found it challenging compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are competitive, gas is solid.
Socially, it was the best decision I ever made. No regrets on my end..

As someone who grew up here, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. A lot has changed in the past few years though. pet-friendliness used to be much reasonable but now it's challenging.
