Thinking about relocating to Sioux City from San Francisco

Been living here since 2020. It's a a smaller city city with about 85,651 people. Rent is about $936/month for a decent place. Median household income is $65,473, which feels about average for the area. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The suburbs are where most families end up. The suburbs are where most families end up. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want outdoor recreation, then yeah this place is great. But if dating scene matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

I've been living here for 6 years and I'd say it exceeded my expectations. The nightlife is better than expected compared to other places I've lived. Overall Feel free to reach out with questions..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value outdoor recreation, you'll love it. The dating scene is genuinely better than expected and I've found it's been a really good experience overall. My neighborhood (East) is stable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Denver, be prepared for the culture shock. walkability is completely different here. And Can feel isolated.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Public transit is underrated here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I'm still on the fence after all this time.
