OK so We're a young couple and Household incomes average around $74,714 in Sioux Falls. Crime rate is something to consider — Sioux Falls sits at 483.2 per 100K. The weather takes some getting used to. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. It's changing fast — some good, some not so much. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The city has invested a lot in new development. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a HR manager who relocated here from Miami about 6 years ago. The main reasons were work and work.
Pros I've experienced:
- Lots of new development happening
- Good internet infrastructure
- Lots of family-friendly activities
Cons that are real:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Nightlife is limited
Financially, we've found it underrated compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are reasonable, gas is tough.
Socially, it's exactly what I was looking for. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Came here for retirement and stayed because it was the best decision I ever made. The walkability is honestly tough and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I have mixed feelings honestly. Internet is solid in most areas.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem better than expected.
I've been here 5 years and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The thing nobody mentions is dating scene. It's affordable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the community vibe is legit. And if you're into hiking, this place is decent.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Fairview side vs the Old Town side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Good luck with whatever you decide..

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want food scene, then yeah this place is great. But if cost of living matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.
