Hi all, I work in construction and Poverty rate is 6.7%, which is pretty low. Household incomes average around $74,714 in Sioux Falls. With a population of 198K, Sioux Falls is a mid-size city. The unemployment rate is 1.7%, which is pretty low. The city has invested a lot in new development. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Worth the trade-offs? The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The suburbs are where most families end up. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The city has invested a lot in new development.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a project manager who relocated here from Houston about 2 years ago. The main reasons were cost of living and school.
Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Four distinct seasons
- Strong sense of community
Cons that are real:
- Road conditions need improvement
- Can feel isolated
Financially, we've found it hit or miss compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are reasonable, gas is underrated.
Socially, it's improved dramatically in recent years. No regrets on my end..

Bought a house here in 2016 and I genuinely enjoy living here. Property values have gone about the same since then.

Public transit is excellent here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it's not perfect but it works for me.
