How are the schools in Sioux Falls?

OK so Military spouse here. Poverty rate is 6.7%, which is pretty low. The unemployment rate is 1.7%, which is pretty low. Homes are going for about $271,400 on average. The suburbs are where most families end up. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. TIA! It's changing fast — some good, some not so much. The food scene here is surprisingly good. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The weather takes some getting used to. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus.

Weather-wise, the summers are average and winters are reasonable. You get used to it after the first year.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem excellent.

I've been here 8 years and it exceeded my expectations. The thing nobody mentions is walkability. It's pricey and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the nightlife is legit. And if you're into skiing, this place is average.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Fairview side vs the Lakewood side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

It's not for everyone but it works for us..
