First time home buyer in Skokie

Not sure if this has been asked before, but Poverty rate is 7.9%, which is pretty low. Crime rate is something to consider -Skokie sits at 237.8 per 100K. You can expect to pay around $1,491 for rent here. The unemployment rate is 3.3%, which is pretty low. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The weather takes some getting used to. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it was the best decision I ever made. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Weather-wise, the summers are excellent and winters are growing. You get used to it after the first year.
