Housing in Skokie compared to Portland

First post here. I'm a remote worker and Average temperature is around 50--F, so expect cold winters. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.

Public transit is challenging here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it's not perfect but it works for me.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is housing market. I genuinely enjoy living here. Worth doing your research before committing.
