Worst things about Skokie nobody talks about

Longtime lurker here, I work in hospitality and Median household income is $93,550, which feels pretty solid for the area. Homes are going for about $368,600 on average. Rent is about $1,491/month for a decent place. The unemployment rate is 3.3%, which is pretty low. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Worth the trade-offs? The weather takes some getting used to.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is community vibe. I genuinely enjoy living here. Worth doing your research before committing.

I've lived in Greenfield for about 7 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it exceeded my expectations. When I first moved here from LA, I was surprised by food scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Close to major attractions
- The outdoor recreation scene is hit or miss

The downsides:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Limited high-paying job options

Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for families. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Hot take but I love the pace of life here. I know a lot of people disagree but after 5 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Weather-wise, the summers are solid and winters are competitive. You get used to it after the first year.
