My partner and I are Average temperature is around 54--F, so expect cold winters. You can expect to pay around $496 for rent here. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Thanks! I'd say it's better for families than young singles. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.

Used to live on the Cedar Grove side, now on the Greenfield side. Completely different vibe. it's not perfect but it works for me.

I'm a lawyer and I've found I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The community is better than expected and there's always something going on.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a pharmacist, 47, moved here 3 years ago from Phoenix. I've lived in Old Town and West, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Decent public transit for the size
2. Strong sense of community
3. Lots of family-friendly activities
4. The people are generally pretty good - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Road conditions need improvement
2. Far from beaches/mountains
3. The public transit situation is developing and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Old Town: Great for singles. solid vibes, walkable.
- West: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Phoenix, everything felt improving. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are stable. Gas is wild. You can live comfortably on $70K-$100K here.
**Final verdict:**
Good luck with whatever you decide.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem surprisingly good.
I've been here 1 years and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The thing nobody mentions is healthcare. It's reasonable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the community vibe is legit. And if you're into skiing, this place is hit or miss.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The South side vs the Greenfield side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

As someone who grew up here, it's exactly what I was looking for. A lot has changed in the past few years though. pet-friendliness used to be much manageable but now it's better than expected.
