I've lived in Maple Ridge for about 11 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I have mixed feelings honestly. When I first moved here from San Diego, I was surprised by dating scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Four distinct seasons
- Diverse dining options
- The school system scene is solid
The downsides:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Not very walkable outside downtown
Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for remote workers. Good luck with whatever you decide..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 2 years ago from Dallas and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in West. It's decent for what you get.
Jobs: The market is stable right now, especially in government. If you're in marketing you might struggle.
People: Generally excellent. It took about 11 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: challenging. Tons of options if you like Asian.
Feel free to reach out with questions..

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want food scene, then yeah this place is great. But if weather matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Used to live on the Meadowbrook side, now on the Greenfield side. Completely different vibe. I genuinely enjoy living here.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are underrated, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Sunset. It's surprisingly good for what you get.
Jobs: The market is reasonable right now, especially in marketing. If you're in legal you might struggle.
People: Generally decent. It took about 4 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: average. Tons of options if you like craft beer.
Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Came here for retirement and stayed because I genuinely enjoy living here. The nightlife is honestly tough and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is outdoor recreation. it was the best decision I ever made. Worth doing your research before committing.
