Longtime lurker here, We're a young couple and Household incomes average around $66,657 in Slidell. Homes are going for about $207,800 on average. The median home value here is around $207,800, which is actually reasonable. Average temperature is around 68--F, so the weather is moderate. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Is this normal for Slidell? It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The suburbs are where most families end up. The suburbs are where most families end up. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value dating scene, you'll love it. The pet-friendliness is genuinely improving and I've found I love the pace of life here. My neighborhood (Meadowbrook) is developing and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from LA, be prepared for the culture shock. safety is completely different here. And Can feel isolated.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

My experience has been mostly positive. it's improved dramatically in recent years. The only thing I'd watch out for is outdoor recreation. Other than that, No regrets on my end..

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 4-bedroom. I genuinely enjoy living here. Compared to Denver it's decent.

Hot take but I love the pace of life here. I know a lot of people disagree but after 6 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want safety, then yeah this place is great. But if walkability matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

If you value outdoor recreation, you'll love it. The healthcare is genuinely solid and I've found it exceeded my expectations. My neighborhood (Westside) is manageable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from San Diego, be prepared for the culture shock. job market is completely different here. And Limited high-paying job options.
