Relocating to Slidell, LA -pros and cons?

Hey, Born and raised here. Homes are going for about $207,800 on average. It's a a smaller city city with about 28,664 people. Poverty rate is 10.2%, which is around average. Household incomes average around $66,657 in Slidell. The food scene here is surprisingly good. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. What neighborhoods would you suggest? It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The suburbs are where most families end up. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The weather takes some getting used to. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The city has invested a lot in new development. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The weather takes some getting used to. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.

I've lived in Highland for about 6 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

the quality of life is solid. When I first moved here from Atlanta, I was surprised by job market. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Good airport with direct flights
- The nightlife scene is solid

The downsides:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Can feel isolated

Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for retirees. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
