OK so I'm a nurse at the local hospital and Poverty rate is 1.5%, which is pretty low. The unemployment rate is 4.1%, which is about average. Rent is about $1,083/month for a decent place. With a population of 6,173, Slinger is a small town. The weather takes some getting used to. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Property taxes are high but you get good services.

Came here for my partner's job and stayed because I love the pace of life here. The job market is honestly decent and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

I've been living here for 3 years and I'd say I love the pace of life here. The nightlife is improving compared to other places I've lived. Overall It's not for everyone but it works for us..

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is weather. I love the pace of life here. Worth doing your research before committing.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.
I've been in Fairview for 14 years. Moved from Pittsburgh for cost of living. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is hit or miss. We bought in 2020 at k and it's now worth up significantly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 4-bed in a safe area. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals.
**Employment:**
marketing is strong here. manufacturing is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are reasonable for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
the quality of life is solid. The outdoor scene is improving - we have mountains within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Fairview schools are pretty good. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Not a lot of cultural diversity. Homeless population growing downtown. And school system can be frustrating.
**Bottom line:**
For couples, I'd say this is a 8/10. It's not for everyone but it works for us.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.
