I'm a HR manager who relocated here from LA about 4 years ago. The main reasons were quality of life and cost of living.
Pros I've experienced:
- Lots of new development happening
- Good internet infrastructure
- Good airport with direct flights
Cons that are real:
- Limited public transit options
- Limited shopping options
Financially, we've found it average compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are reasonable, gas is average.
Socially, the quality of life is solid. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Good schools in most areas
- Strong job market in several industries
Cons that are real:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Limited high-paying job options
Financially, we've found it average compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are stable, gas is better than expected.
Socially, I genuinely enjoy living here. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

As someone who grew up here, it was the best decision I ever made. A lot has changed in the past few years though. safety used to be much reasonable but now it's solid.
