So, I'm retired and It's a a small town city with about 24,940 people. With a population of 24,940, Smithtown is a small town. Average temperature is around 53--F, so expect cold winters. The food scene here is surprisingly good. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The food scene here is surprisingly good.
