Hey everyone, Poverty rate is 6.7%, which is pretty low. Crime rate is something to consider -Smyrna sits at 287.2 per 100K. With a population of 56,285, Smyrna is a smaller city. It's a a smaller city city with about 56,285 people. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The weather takes some getting used to. Am I wrong here? Property taxes are high but you get good services. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The weather takes some getting used to. OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 9 years ago from Raleigh and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Westside. It's pretty good for what you get.

Jobs: The market is pricey right now, especially in healthcare. If you're in tech you might struggle.

People: Generally tough. It took about 6 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: challenging. Tons of options if you like Vietnamese.

Hope this helps!.
