Alright, Military spouse here. Crime rate is something to consider -Smyrna sits at 287.2 per 100K. Median household income is $96,780, which feels pretty solid for the area. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Would love some local perspective. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The city has invested a lot in new development. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus.

I've lived in Highland for about 10 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I'm still on the fence after all this time. When I first moved here from Tampa, I was surprised by job market. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Affordable housing options
- The public transit scene is surprisingly good
The downsides:
- Chain restaurants dominate
- Limited entertainment options
Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for retirees. Definitely worth checking out..
