Moving from Cleveland to Smyrna next month

Anyone else feel this way? Property taxes are high but you get good services. What are your go-to spots? Any help is appreciated.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a marketing manager, 30, moved here 2 years ago from Raleigh. I've lived in North and Greenfield, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Lots of new development happening
2. Active local events and festivals
3. Diverse dining options
4. The people are generally decent - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Winters are long and cold
2. Limited high-paying job options
3. The traffic situation is competitive and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- North: Great for couples. excellent vibes, walkable.
- Greenfield: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Raleigh, everything felt excellent. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are affordable. Gas is manageable. You can live comfortably on $70K-$80K here.

**Final verdict:**
Would recommend to anyone considering it.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is public transit. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Worth doing your research before committing.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a physical therapist, 52, moved here 9 years ago from Charlotte. I've lived in Greenfield and Midtown, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Great outdoor activities nearby
2. Good schools in most areas
3. Affordable housing options
4. The people are generally improving - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Nightlife is limited
2. Not a lot of cultural diversity
3. The nightlife situation is competitive and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Greenfield: Great for young professionals. hit or miss vibes, walkable.
- Midtown: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Charlotte, everything felt pretty good. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are reasonable. Gas is stable. You can live comfortably on $70K-$70K here.

**Final verdict:**
Would recommend to anyone considering it.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want community vibe, then yeah this place is great. But if cultural scene matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 6 years ago from Phoenix and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Greenfield. It's pretty good for what you get.

Jobs: The market is competitive right now, especially in education. If you're in construction you might struggle.

People: Generally surprisingly good. It took about 13 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: decent. Tons of options if you like Korean.

Happy to answer more specific questions..

Came here for family and stayed because the quality of life is solid. The housing market is honestly pretty good and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 10 years ago from Portland and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in The Heights. It's excellent for what you get.

Jobs: The market is manageable right now, especially in government. If you're in retail you might struggle.

People: Generally underrated. It took about 11 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: pretty good. Tons of options if you like Italian.

It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem improving.

I've been here 1 years and it exceeded my expectations. The thing nobody mentions is cultural scene. It's reasonable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the weather is legit. And if you're into skiing, this place is solid.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Fairview side vs the Westside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Happy to answer more specific questions..
