Not sure if this has been asked before, but Crime rate is something to consider -Smyrna sits at 390.6 per 100K. Household incomes average around $78,409 in Smyrna. Poverty rate is 8.3%, which is pretty low. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The city has invested a lot in new development. Has anyone dealt with this? The suburbs are where most families end up. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The city has invested a lot in new development. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The food scene here is surprisingly good. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The weather takes some getting used to. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. I've lived in Maple Ridge for about 4 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it exceeded my expectations. When I first moved here from Miami, I was surprised by walkability. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Good schools in most areas
- The traffic scene is pretty good
Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for retirees. Feel free to reach out with questions..

it was the best decision I ever made. When I first moved here from San Francisco, I was surprised by safety. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Good schools in most areas

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.
I've been in Old Town for 14 years. Moved from Atlanta for weather. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is pretty good. We bought in 2020 at k and it's now worth down slightly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 2-bed in a safe area. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals.
**Employment:**
education is strong here. real estate is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are affordable for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The outdoor scene is pretty good - we have national forests within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Old Town schools are pretty good. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Nightlife is limited. Road conditions need improvement. And job market can be frustrating.
**Bottom line:**
For retirees, I'd say this is a 6/10. Feel free to reach out with questions.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.
