How are the schools in Smyrna?

You can expect to pay around $1,366 for rent here. Night life is decent if you know the right spots.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem improving.

I've been here 4 years and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The thing nobody mentions is outdoor recreation. It's reasonable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the pet-friendliness is legit. And if you're into running, this place is excellent.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Meadowbrook side vs the Old Town side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Happy to answer more specific questions..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a writer, 43, moved here 4 years ago from Phoenix. I've lived in North and Old Town, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Low crime in most neighborhoods
2. Four distinct seasons
3. Affordable housing options
4. The people are generally average - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Winters are long and cold
2. Property taxes are high
3. The school system situation is pricey and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- North: Great for remote workers. excellent vibes, walkable.
- Old Town: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Phoenix, everything felt surprisingly good. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are established. Gas is reasonable. You can live comfortably on $60K-$140K here.

**Final verdict:**
Happy to answer more specific questions.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a electrician who relocated here from Nashville about 4 years ago. The main reasons were quality of life and weather.

Pros I've experienced:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Good healthcare facilities
- Four distinct seasons

Cons that are real:
- Property taxes are high
- Bugs and humidity in summer

Financially, we've found it underrated compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are developing, gas is decent.

Socially, I love the pace of life here. Hope this helps!.
