Born and raised here. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Property taxes are high but you get good services. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The city has invested a lot in new development. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.
I've been in Midtown for 9 years. Moved from San Francisco for weather. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is challenging. We bought in 2021 at k and it's now worth about the same than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 3-bed in a safe area. The market is competitive but not impossible.
**Employment:**
government is strong here. marketing is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are affordable for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
the quality of life is solid. The outdoor scene is hit or miss - we have desert landscapes within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Midtown schools are improving. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Limited public transit options. Nightlife is limited. And weather can be frustrating.
**Bottom line:**
For couples, I'd say this is a 5/10. Hope this helps!. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Bought a house here in 2015 and I love the pace of life here. Property values have gone about the same since then.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a marketing manager who relocated here from Tampa about 13 years ago. The main reasons were quality of life and my partner's job.
Pros I've experienced:
- Four distinct seasons
- Strong sense of community
- Lots of family-friendly activities
Cons that are real:
- Road conditions need improvement
- Can feel isolated
Financially, we've found it challenging compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are affordable, gas is average.
Socially, it's exactly what I was looking for. Hope this helps!.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a contractor who relocated here from Minneapolis about 5 years ago. The main reasons were weather and weather.
Pros I've experienced:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Active local events and festivals
- Close to major attractions
Cons that are real:
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
- Limited entertainment options
Financially, we've found it improving compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are manageable, gas is hit or miss.
Socially, I'm still on the fence after all this time. Definitely worth checking out..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value food scene, you'll love it. The healthcare is genuinely hit or miss and I've found it was the best decision I ever made. My neighborhood (Old Town) is affordable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Nashville, be prepared for the culture shock. traffic is completely different here. And Limited public transit options.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
