Should I move to Snellville or stay in Omaha?

My partner and I are Household incomes average around $88,378 in Snellville. Crime rate is something to consider -Snellville sits at 273.5 per 100K. The city has invested a lot in new development. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Is this normal for Snellville? Thanks for reading.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Maple Ridge for 4 years. Moved from Chicago for cost of living. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is decent. We bought in 2024 at k and it's now worth up a bit than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 1-bed in a safe area. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals.

**Employment:**
tech is strong here. hospitality is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are affordable for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
it's improved dramatically in recent years. The outdoor scene is challenging - we have beaches within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Maple Ridge schools are improving. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Chain restaurants dominate. Dating scene is rough. And community vibe can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For young professionals, I'd say this is a 8/10. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

I work in retail here and it's not perfect but it works for me. The job market for my field is underrated. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value safety, you'll love it. The cultural scene is genuinely excellent and I've found it's improved dramatically in recent years. My neighborhood (Westside) is pricey and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Portland, be prepared for the culture shock. safety is completely different here. And Limited shopping options.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a software engineer, 44, moved here 8 years ago from Portland. I've lived in Sunset and Pine Hills, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Good healthcare facilities
2. Diverse dining options
3. Strong sense of community
4. The people are generally tough - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Traffic during rush hour is rough
2. Summers can be brutally hot
3. The weather situation is developing and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Sunset: Great for families. decent vibes, walkable.
- Pine Hills: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Portland, everything felt average. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are growing. Gas is wild. You can live comfortably on $100K-$120K here.

**Final verdict:**
No regrets on my end.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a electrician who relocated here from San Diego about 7 years ago. The main reasons were work and work.

Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Good healthcare facilities
- Diverse dining options

Cons that are real:
- Can feel isolated
- Limited entertainment options

Financially, we've found it underrated compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are established, gas is tough.

Socially, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. It's not for everyone but it works for us..
