Moving to Snohomish with kids -good idea?

Hi all, The unemployment rate is 4.8%, which is about average. The median home value here is around $599,600, which is pretty steep. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The suburbs are where most families end up. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The city has invested a lot in new development. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods.

Used to live on the Uptown side, now on the Greenfield side. Completely different vibe. I love the pace of life here.

The food scene here is tough. Tons of great Korean places. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now.

I've lived in Riverside for about 14 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's exactly what I was looking for. When I first moved here from Houston, I was surprised by pet-friendliness. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Strong job market in several industries
- The healthcare scene is improving

The downsides:
- Limited public transit options
- Property taxes are high

Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for young professionals. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value weather, you'll love it. The housing market is genuinely excellent and I've found it was the best decision I ever made. My neighborhood (Uptown) is developing and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Miami, be prepared for the culture shock. job market is completely different here. And Urban sprawl is real.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are better than expected, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want job market, then yeah this place is great. But if food scene matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.
