OK so Been living here since 2011. Rent is about $3,090/month for a decent place. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Would love some local perspective. Thanks! Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a marketing manager who relocated here from Boston about 6 years ago. The main reasons were weather and weather.
Pros I've experienced:
- Lots of new development happening
- Close to major attractions
- Affordable housing options
Cons that are real:
- Limited public transit options
- Limited shopping options
Financially, we've found it underrated compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are affordable, gas is underrated.
Socially, it's improved dramatically in recent years. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Bought a house here in 2016 and I love the pace of life here. Property values have gone about the same since then.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a nurse who relocated here from Charlotte about 4 years ago. The main reasons were school and retirement.
Pros I've experienced:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Affordable housing options
- Good airport with direct flights
Cons that are real:
- Limited public transit options
- Summers can be brutally hot
Financially, we've found it decent compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are pricey, gas is solid.
Socially, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Happy to answer more specific questions..

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, the quality of life is solid. Hope this helps!.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want pet-friendliness, then yeah this place is great. But if healthcare matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value cost of living, you'll love it. The outdoor recreation is genuinely tough and I've found the quality of life is solid. My neighborhood (Maple Ridge) is competitive and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Baltimore, be prepared for the culture shock. housing market is completely different here. And Homeless population growing downtown.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

I've been living here for 5 years and I'd say I love the pace of life here. The school system is average compared to other places I've lived. Overall Would recommend to anyone considering it..

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is traffic. it exceeded my expectations. Worth doing your research before committing.
