Just moved to Socastee, any tips?

Not sure if this has been asked before, but Poverty rate is 7.0%, which is pretty low. Median household income is $59,826, which feels about average for the area. The city has invested a lot in new development. Would love some local perspective. Thanks in advance! It's not perfect, but the community is solid.

I've been living here for 11 years and I'd say it's exactly what I was looking for. The food scene is better than expected compared to other places I've lived. Overall Happy to answer more specific questions..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 4 years ago from Miami and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Pine Hills. It's decent for what you get.

Jobs: The market is pricey right now, especially in finance. If you're in real estate you might struggle.

People: Generally underrated. It took about 15 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: hit or miss. Tons of options if you like Mediterranean.

Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. No regrets on my end..

Came here for work and stayed because I'm still on the fence after all this time. The job market is honestly better than expected and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

My experience has been mostly positive. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The only thing I'd watch out for is public transit. Other than that, Happy to answer more specific questions..
