Alright, I grew up here but left for a while. The unemployment rate is 0.3%, which is pretty low. The median home value here is around $162,400, which is actually reasonable. You can expect to pay around $675 for rent here. Household incomes average around $51,343 in Socorro. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Has anyone dealt with this? Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The city has invested a lot in new development. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The food scene here is surprisingly good.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I'm still on the fence after all this time. Internet is underrated in most areas.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value community vibe, you'll love it. The community vibe is genuinely decent and I've found I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. My neighborhood (Maple Ridge) is wild and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Baltimore, be prepared for the culture shock. food scene is completely different here. And Nightlife is limited.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Weather-wise, the summers are tough and winters are affordable. You get used to it after the first year.

I'm a data analyst and I've found there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The community is solid and there's always something going on.

I've lived in The Heights for about 11 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it's been a really good experience overall. When I first moved here from Pittsburgh, I was surprised by nightlife. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Good internet infrastructure
- The community vibe scene is tough
The downsides:
- Can feel isolated
- Limited entertainment options
Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for families. Feel free to reach out with questions..
